Clearinghouse Call-in Center
Our call-in center is manned by trained volunteers from various churches throughout the community. We are open approximately 24 hours per week. We have some funds for rent, utilities, and car repairs if callers meet the following criteria and we are able to verify the need:
1. Rental Assistance:
To obtain a month’s rent -- client usually has to call several different places (we give these referrals). We pay the final $250 monthly rent if:
- Client has not received rental assistance from us within the past 3 years
- Client has some source of income -- for example employment, unemployment benefits, or Social Security. Client must provide verification of this income.
Rationale: Those who have no income because they are disabled and can’t work should be applying for public aid or SSI, RSDI—their need is too great for the Clearinghouse to make a meaningful impact. Those who are able to work but do not have a job are given employment referrals.
2. Car Repairs:
LOVE Christian Clearinghouse will provide up to $150 for car repairs if the car is needed to drive to and from employment or if a TANF recipient and the car is needed to go to school and we have not helped with this need within the past 3 years. If the car is not used for employment or school for TANF recipients—we give referrals to other agencies that help with transportation needs.
3. Utilities:
LOVE Christian Clearinghouse will provide up to $150 for utility bill payment
- If client has not received utility bill help from us within the past 3 years.
- If they have income to be able to pay the bill in the future.
LOVE will not provide funds for huge overdue utility bills where turn-off will not be affected.
